The Department of Virginia License Plate Project is ongoing.

We are now at 55% of our goal. We want to make sure that the Auxiliary Units, SAL members and the Riders know they are included in this project.

Once we receive all 450 DMV applications and fees at Department we will transfer them to DMV. On arrival at DMV of the 450 applications, Virginia Delegate Anderson will introduce a bill in the legislature so it becomes law. The Legion plate will then be produced and sent to the applicant via mail. We only have one time a year to introduce our license plate request, so time is terribly important.

The above sequence to obtain a special plate is required by the Virginia State Legislators and DMV.

Success time is totally dependent on the response of our members. Please encourage your members to mail in their DMV forms and fee(s). There is no deadline to send in an application.  We would like to have the Legion license plate in place for the American Legion’s 100th Anniversary . Please help us – send in an application and fee today.

If you decide you do not want to pay the additional fee later, you can simply go back to a regular license plate at the time of renewal. Our special plate is a rolling billboard – free advertisement – 24 hours a day 365 days a year for our Legion Family.

Those of you, who have sent in applications and fees, please be patient with the process.
