After considerable consideration by the Virginia State Police administration and the Virginia American Legion leadership, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Youth Cadet Law Enforcement Academy scheduled for 14-19 June, 2020.
We waited as long as we did, hoping that we could still provide a completely safe and healthy environment for our youth who participate, our dedicated Legion counselors and to our Virginia State Police partners who have supported us in this endeavor for over 30 years. With the unknown longevity of this COVID-19 situation, we felt it was in the best interest of all involved to make this decision now, even though we are deeply disappointed to have to do so.
This is just one of many disappointments that our American Legion Family and those that support our programs have had to endure the past couple weeks. We all ask for your understanding.
