Legionnaire Roscoe Eagle of Post 85 in Arlington, VA was given special recognition at the 2019 Washington Conference. Legionnaire Eagle was presented a special award by National Commander Brett Reistad on behalf of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Legionnaire Eagle was recognized by the National Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Commission as the Outstanding Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service Volunteer of the Year for his exceptional service to our nation’s Veterans in his role as volunteer and representative for the Washington, DC VA Medical Center. Also present for the award ceremony were Mr. Michael Heimall, Director of the Washington DC VA Medical Center and Mr. Aldean Swan, Chief, Voluntary Services. It is believed that this is the first time that the Medical Director of a facility has actually been on hand to present this award.
Legionnaire Eagle is truly deserving of this recognition and his dedication could be seen as he left the Washington Conference with his wife Edna Eagle to make sure they could continue their usual Monday morning routine of volunteering at the Washington DC Medical Center. Congratulations to Mr. Eagle on his well deserved recognition for such superior service to his fellow Veterans.
