The Department of Virginia sadly announces the passing of Past Department President Evelyn Dentz on January 3, 2015. She was married to the late Past Department Commander Edwin Dentz. Please see the Unit 176 Announcement below.

Dear Legion Family,
Mrs. Evelyn Dentz, founder and first President of, Springfield Unit 176, American Legion Auxiliary, died January 3rd, 2015.
Funeral services will be held at Demaine’s Funeral Home located at 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, Va.
The service will be held on January 15th at 10:00 in the morning at Demaine’s.
The American Legion Auxiliary will conduct the Celebration of Life and our Poppy Ceremony. Service will wrap up about 10:30 from Demaine’s.
At 10:45 to 11:00 funeral procession to Quantico will begin. We should arrive will Gravesite by 12:00 at Quantico.
We will be conducting a graveside service and will last about 15 minutes, finishing about 12:15.
All are invited back to Springfield American Legion located at 6520 Amherst Avenue, Springfield, Va.
A light lunch will be provided.
Evelyn Dentz has requested that in lieu of flowers please donate money to the “Girls State Fund”. Please make your check payable
